What amp do I need to push my 2 12's?

Type R's Need a amp that can accually push them!!!!?

  • i just upgraded my subs to 2 dual 4 ohm type r's now my 750.1 kicker amp can hardly push them....the gain is arleady at 800 rms n it begins to clip n the amp gets so hot....so i need a new amp one that can run the type r's any1 know of a good amp at reasonable price or a cheap car audio site? cheapest one i know of is sonicelectronix?

  • Answer:

you cannot set the gain to a certain rms, that rating is determined by how you wire the subs. type rs are only 500 watts rms so you probably have them wired wrong if the amp is not "pushing" them, or since you have overpowered the subs you could have blown them and that is why they dont sound as good. i have the same amp and kicker certified it at 941 watts rms, so you pretty much doubled the maximum power they could handle continuously(rms). i know they are 1500 watts max but that is for brief musical bursts, not all day long.
