Why won't my Car CD player work?

My Car Stereo CD player wont work?

  • http://s344.photobucket.com/albums/p342/buddyboyxc/?action=view&current=BrokenCDPlayer.jpg I'm talking about the CD player. Everything else works fine. What could be some problems? I can put the CD in but then it takes 30 seconds of attempting to read any audio CD then just automatically puts the CD back out.

  • Answer:

This is an old system that might not read some of the cds you burn and try to play in your car. Beside that no body sell cassette players anylonger. It will be cheaper to get a new head unit that repairing the cd player. Did you have an extended warranty when you purchased the vehicle and how many miles do you have now. It you have a factory warranty that covers it for 7 years or 100,000 miles see if they could fix it under the warranty.

Does it give you an error code? Did it just start doing it? One thing you can TRY, dont know if it will work because i dont know the exact problem, but disconnect the battery (just the negative) for like 30 seconds and reconnect it and see if that works. doing this sometimes resets components in the car. I dont know if doing this will cause you to have to input a code once you reconnect it though, but even that wont be hard to obtain. So what do you have to lose. good luck
