My car amplifier not working in my car.

Car amplifier not working any more?

  • so, i have a Pioneer GM-D7400M amplifier... and it was working for about 6 months... then all of a sudden it just stopped working. and now the blue light in the middle of it just flashes on and off... i have no idea whats wrong... i know its not my wiring kit, or the sub, or the ground. so i know its the amp... any ideas if its fixable

    There's a lot of things that could cause this, but I'd suspect a resistance somewhere on the power or ground line. Basically, your amp is powering on, but as soon as it starts to draw more current, the resistance on the power line causes the voltage to drop and the amp shuts down again. Check the ground point and make sure your ground wire is still tight and secure, and not corroded. Check the main power wire's connection at the battery to see if it's loose or corroded, and try changing the fuse (even if it doesn't look blown). If none of these solve the problem, then you'll need to get a multimeter and do some more complex troubleshooting.

KeaZoo has a very good sugestion. I would start there, and if that deos not fix your troubles, I would check the impediance of the sub. Anotherwords if you burnt a sopt on the VC (blew your sub) the amp could be bouncing in and out of protection. I would have a qualified installer check the subs impediance.... that is if you don't know how.

If the little light was ever a different color..for example red..then it may be your amp went into protection mode..or your having a simple ground issue that you cant see. if you have a local car audio place..call and make an appt with them to have it checked out..
