How to hook up my subs?

How to hook up 2 subs to a mono amp with 2 speaker terminals?

  • i have two 4ohm dvc subs wired in parallel to a 4ohm final load and the mono amp i have has two speaker terminal 2pos and 2neg. with my 2 subs wired in parallel i only have one set of wires coming from my box that hook up to both subs so how do i hook just one set of speaker wires to the two speaker terminals on my amp thanks for your help

  • Answer:

It really depends on what amp you have and what kind of power its putting out. You can either just hook the box to the first or second channel and call it a day or you can bridge the amp and get a little more power out of the amp. CHECK YOUR AMP BEFORE YOU BRIDGE IT. There should be a diagram on it to tell you the wiring configuration for bridging and if it is safe to do so at a 4 ohm load. Typically when bridging you will go from the positive side on the first channel to the negative side of the second channel.

run 1 pos and 1 neg to the other speaker pos and neg. then run a 1 pos and 1 neg into the amplifier where it shows + -. and if you have 4 speaker connectors 2 pos and 2 neg on the amp then just wire the connections together pos and neg on the amplifier then run 1 pos and 1 neg to the one set of wiring coming out from your subwoofer box.
