Question about stereo preouts...?

  • AMP: Power Ratings for Planet Audio P475 600 watt 75 x 4 watts RMS @ 4 ohms 150 x 4 watts RMS @ 2 ohms 1x 35-amp fuse (not certain) Subs: 2X10" PPI subs Speakers: 4x6" Bauplunkt mids with built in tweeters. i need a new HU. does the preout voltage matter? i see some HU's have 2v, 2.5v 4v, etc. some have 2 preouts, some have 3 etc, what should i be looking for, whats the difference, how does it work, please explain. thanks

  • Answer:

Preout voltage matters only if your going to connect amplifier to your headunit. The more volts a preout has the more signal will be transfered to your amplifer, giving it a louder cleaner sound with less distortion. Some HU thats 1, 2 or 3 pre outputs for rca's. It really depends on how amplifers you plan on running. 2 amps should be connected to 2 pre outputs on the HU. So in general more volts=better sound.
