Vauxhall Vectra SRI Radio Removal (FACTORY ONE) Need help....?
-
i am TRYING to remove my standard car cd radio player from my car, which is a vauxhall vectra sri. my player is a CDR 500, the one with the 2 bass and treble knobs ABOVE the volume knob, not beside it. i have looked online, and even in my manual it says "to remove the stereo, unscrew the 4 allan hex screws from the 4 DIN sockets, and use DIN keys to remove the player" heres my problem, i have universal DIN keys, and i have bought a car HEX secuirty allan key, however just to find out that there is NO allan screws holding it!! i have a 5 inch 3mm screw driver, i am able to push this screw driver right in and theres nothing to stop it. BUT MY RADIO WILL NOT COME OUT!!! i have used the allan key, the din keys, the allan key just turns and the din keys DO lock in, but just pop back out again as there IS something holding the stereo in place. i have pushed the code button to pop the operation button panel off, under that there is 2 small screws, i have even took these out but it STILL wont come it. im on the verge of doing a jeromey clarkson, GETTING MY HAMMER OUT! A mate told me, take the full stereo face plate off, and undo the screws under it, im no car tech but i know this wont help either. if i put the din keys in, and wiggle them, the stereo DOES move up and down (at the back of the dash) so its something at the front thats holding it in, can ANYONE tell me what in heven it is???? theres no more screws i have looked all over, theres no clips or pins, has anyone removed one of these and if so what is holding it in place?? i swear im going to rip it out in bits if i dont get this thing removed, its doing my head in. im doing what the manual says and what it says online, only im missing the allan screws and the din keys wont pull it out

Answer:
It seems the retaining clips of the cd player are damaged, from what you describe. The cd player has obviously been replaced at some point as the 8torx screws have been removed ... The procedure is to insert the radio removal keys.. and push outwards to the right and left at the same time. All I can suggest is get some assistance... while you've got the keys inserted pushing to left and right... get your assistant to insert two right-angle picks into the CD tray and pull gently.. source: removed many stuck CDR500s another source.... forum www.tech-sat.info ... radio decoding section.

Here is a video showing how to remove a standard radio from the dashboard. An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4 securing clips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urC-4NbXvDQ http://www.fitaudio.com/index.php?CategoryID=30
