Help in choosing a car audio system?
-
My mom wants to buy a car audio system for her new car, I wanted some pointers on what kind of system to buy. She listens mainly to pop/instrumental/vocal music (basically, music soft on the ears ;p), at low to moderate volumes. We have zeroed in on a basic Pioneer head unit (DEH 2290 UB), as it has all the features that she and I need (aux in, USB and mp3 CD support). We wont be fixing an amp either. I was wondering what kind of speakers to go in for. I could go in for the basic Pioneer speakers (2 front round two-way speakers and 2 back oval three-way coax). But the guy at the audio shop recommended Hertz speakers, saying they sound much better. They sure might, but I'm wondering if it would really make a difference to sound quality, considering that mom listens at lower volumes generally. He even suggested to go in for front "component" Hertz speakers, which he says sound even better. My question is whether at lower volumes, these higher-priced speakers would really sound better, compared to the basic Pioneer speakers. If they do, for our kind of usage, would Hertz coax or component speakers be a better choice? He also suggested that he'll mount the rear speakers on a wooden board that sits above the boot (we have a Hyundai i10). The car already has a plastic board covered with felt over the boot. Can't the rear speakers be mounted on it? (in our earlier car, it was done like that). Thanks :-)

Answer:
The Pioneer radio will definetly make your speakers sound clear and loud. The Pioneer deck has a Srtv button that'll allow it to get even louder if you'd like. I'd stick with the Pioneer speakers. I'd put the three-way coax in the front and also in the back, It'll sound louder at less volume. Also more fuller. The Hertz.... I don't know about that brand but I bet the Pioneers will do just as good for less cost. If you were to put an amp to your speakers, then thats when you might go with the hertz. No need to mount the speakers in the back. Just do the doors! Your new radio will make a difference on its own even with your old speakers! Hope I helped.

Basic pioneer speakers will be just fine and better with an amp on them.Do not buy speaker because someone says it sounds better than the other , everyone has a different taste , some like lots of treble , some like more mids , it just depends on your sound preferance.Components speakers are the best way to go , but cost alot more and the rear speakers being mounted on a board would be a smart thing to do because if the surface they are on is not solid you will get rattling sound from the plastic and poor sound quality.
