If I want to upgrade my car's speakers, how much money am I looking at spending?

if you're low on funds go with just the 2 front speakers for now. Most cars use 6.5 inch speakers and you can get some really nice ones on fleabay for 40-50 bucks. If you have 100-140 you can easily replace all the speakers in your car with high quality drivers. I would suggest rockford fosgate or kenwood for some very nice quality speakers for a good price. If you wanna diy then i would definitely go to crutchfield for the speakers. They DO give you free mounting frames and harnesses with every order. Plus they give you a mastersheet which shows you step by step with pics how to install em yourself. DO NOT go to your local best buy to get the work done. They do horrible work that a real installer like myself has to fix. One guy had his speakers wired backwards by them which caused them to blow when he cranked them up. Of course they didn't give him new ones or take any blame at all!

do whatever fits your price range. good quality speakers cost about 80-100 for a pair. amps go for $200 and aren't really necessary right away, or ever if your head unit is pretty powerful. if its an aftermarket HU, don't worry about an amp if you can't afford it. if you just want new speakers, enter your car info at crutchfield.com, and they'll show you your options. they also give you free installation kits 99% of the time which is nice.
