How big should my fuse be for my aftermarket sound system?

What fuse should have have for my sound system?

  • So my subs recently stopped playing and i found the fuse holder completely melted. It has a 60 amp fuse in it which worked fine. Now I'm looking online for a new fuse box and fuse. The amp is 900 watts running two 10" Rockford Fosgate T1s. I'm running 2 gauge wire up to the battery. Any opinions on what holder and fuse would be good?

  • Answer:

2 gauge is pretty big even for a true 900w rms amp.. i'd suggest gettin an ANL fuse holder and put the 80 or 100a in it. but remember, a fuse pops for a reason. there is a short somewhere in the line, either in the wires or the amp... sometimes it can be a fluke but more likley then not it will happen again. make sure to check all of your wires for clean connections.
