How many RMS does my 2 12" jbl subs have?

What amp would i need for 2 jbl gt5 12" subs?

  • i am going to buy 2 jbl gt5 12" subs and would like to buy a amp to power it but am not sure which type/make and what sort of things the amp needs to have to power the two subs. the subs are 275w rms each and 1100w peak each and both are single voice coil. i would like 2 know: 1.) what channel amp would work with my two subs 2.) what wiring kit would i need with my two subs also i would like to buy a external bass control for my subs that can be used from the front whilst driving does anybody know of a jbl or any universal bass control that would work with my 2 subs? links to amps etc and explantions would be greatly appreciated .. thank you in advance :D

  • Answer:

The RMS is 275, so the peak doesnt really matter. You need a 500-600 watt RMS amp. They are single coil 4ohm woofers. So you need a 2 ohm impediance performing amp. The kicker i listed in the source will do you good. Wire them in parallel, which i have showed you in the diagram in the source. Use 4ga amp power wire and ground, use 8ga speaker wiring.
