Car amplifier and sub?

Car Amplifier not working. Doesn't go in to protect mode. Power is going to the sub but no sound.?

  • Sub stopped hitting two days ago. After changing all the fuses and checking all the wires I ripped out my head unit and the rca's ripped themselves apart. As in the wire itself ripped off of the gold plated input piece. So the input's of the rca's were still in my radio's pre out's but the wire's were just dangling there. So I got new rca's and ran them, sub still didn't work so I thought it could be the radio's pre out's. Hooked up another amp with the same radio and rca's and this time both that amp and my original sub worked. So I now know that it IS the amp, but I can't figure out what's wrong with it. When I turn on my radio the green power light for the amp turns on, I hear a almost popping type sound when the radio turns on, I'm thinking this is the initial energy getting to the sub? But the sub won't hit, as if it's not getting sound... I checked all the wires with a test light, and everything lite up including the speaker wires from the amp to the sub. So that mean's the amp has to be putting out power right? Just no sound... So are my rca input's bad on my amp? how do I tell and what can I do? I don't want to junk the amp because it's still making power I tested that, it's just not producing sound... Also it doesn't go in to protect mode. Thanks for any help!

  • Answer:

more than likely the rca input leads have burnt out. you will have to take the amp apart, slide the circuit board out and solder the leads back to the board without makin a mess.a
