How do I build a sub box?

Can I build a sub box for a alpine type X inside of another box that is 16 1/4" high 15" wide and 16 1/2 deep?

  • i have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 HD. I have two alpine type R's under my back seats but i want more so im building a center console that takes out my front middle seat and meets up with my dash like the 2011 dodge truck sports and i was wondering if i could buy or build a box inside it for a alpine type X 12" and have the correct air space for the sub and still have deep bass and sound good the in side diameter where i want the sub to go is 16 1/4"high 15"wide and 16 1/2" deep.

    If you can't get enough air space for both, go with one. But yeah, you should be able to do it. You could also iso mount them or come up with some other trick install that keeps everything working the way it should.

Atrend E12Sv B Box Series 12-Inch Single Vented Subwoofer Enclosure is the first pre-fab subwoofer box I've ever used and I'm impressed with its quality. Atrend uses some decent quality materials and tunes the box to make a 12" sub hit very, very hard. As for the other reviews that mention a glue smell when the box gets warm, I can't say that I've noticed anything at all even after hours of operation. If you don't have the time, money or inclination to build your own sub box, this is a very welcome alternative.
