How does a car stereo system work?

Can a bose car system work without a bose stereo?

  • I have a 2001 infiniti i30 with a bose system and the main problem is the bass will cut in and out...its not the amp or the bass itself i know it has something to do with the stereo and its time for an upgrade anyway...can i use a sony or something like that maybe with a high/low converter or does the system need a bose stereo

  • Answer:

The amps are what usually go bad in factory bose systems... And you usually cannot just add an aftermarket stereo to bose systems and have it sound good.

it is a possibility for the amp to be bad..if you replace the radio and if it integrates the amp you still may run into the same problem... but the only way to find out really is if you swap the radio, if the problem persists, then the amp is bad then you will either have to get a new factory amp to replace it..or just bypass the amp
