How can I fix my amp?

How Can i fix my amp or is it impossible?

  • ok so i had a 2000 watt boss amp. it was my first amp and i really dint know much but how to set it up. Like an idiot i used a house extension cord as the ground wire. After like an hour or so of pounding it wuld shut off. when i looked at the wires, the extension cord ground wire waz burnt, like super fried. so as an idiot i cut off the burnt part and spliced the wire again and used it. i did this quit a few times. about 10 splices later the amp wuldnt turn on at all. i threw it in my garage and not to long ago i opened it up. rite where the ground wire goes, there are about 6 small wires on the board inside that are burnt across. im prety sure this is whats wrong but i do not know how to fix it or if its just dead. i think i culd just solder the wires but i also remember that the amp got real hot so i dunno if it will juss melt the solder again or wat. sumone give me an idea. thank u

    Its a boss amp. Theres no point in saving it. Get something better my friend.

If you have the skill, replace the burnt wires with heavier gage wires. The worst that can happen is that you have to buy a new amp. You have to do that anyway if you don't try the repair. Next install, feel for heat before it gets to the critical point.

don't worry, your amp can be repaired. i am tha owner of a small car audio business know as K&P KUSTOMS, and i tend to have people come in with tha same problem as you. Tha solution is to replace those little wires, known as "jumper wires" or "j wires" with either tha same gauge wire or a lower gauge wire that will run more current. Try replacing those wires and see if that fixes your problem. Since you haven't mentioned anything about a burnt smell, i highly doubt your amp is blown and it should be in working condition after those wires are replaced.
