A reasonably cheap car stereo that can connect with an ipod?

How can I connect my Ipod to my car stereo?

  • I already have the stereo wired with an 8 pin cable that plugs into a 6 disc CD player in the trunk. Is there any kind of adapter that I can get to convert the male 8 pin plug to something I could plug a stereo mini plug into?

  • Answer:

That carries the sound signal from the changer to the FM modulator so the radio can tune it in. That cable contains wires for the sound out, left and right positive and negatives, changer power and power sensing to turn the unit on, and ground. If you open up the cable and test each wire you can discover which are the left and right sound. Patch in your Ipod sound to those. You have to make it up with parts you can get from a store like Radio Shack. I hope it doesn't hurt the changer's output. You might need to use 1:1 transformer coupling to keep the Ipod signal from feeding into the changer's output.
