How do i power up my car radio?

I wired a new radio in my car using an adaptor i have 0 power to the faceplate, what did i do wrong?

  • i have a chevy cavalier. I purchased an adaptor from best buy for $20 and installed it to the harness on the radio. once i plugged it in, nothing. i installed a DUAL radio. I need help.

  • Answer:

Check it again make sure you didn't accidentally hook up wrong colors.check your fuse for your radio in your fuse panel in the car. then check the fuse in the back of the radio if there is one.make sure you have acc wire hooked up to the right color ,its usually yellow red or blue, just double check everything.this happens to me almost every time i hook one up,lol. its always something stupid, you will find it.

Check your fuses. When I installed my deckI accidentally had the key turned on the car and blew my fuse. It's no big problem just change the blown fuse.

there is a red wire witch is your main power wire or memory wire. and you have a yellow wire witch is your remote wire.you have to have power to both of them for the stereo to work. your red wire should have power at all times. your yellow wire should have power when the switch is on only.you can buy a light tester at wall mart for 5 or 6 bucks if you have checked everything and it still dosent work then i would consider taking the stereo back and getting a different one
