Did i blow my speaker?

Will i blow my speaker or will i blow both speakers and amp?

  • i have 2 12" subs (800watts) and i have a amp (350watts) i have a 4 gauge power cord. if i connet the 4 gauge power cord into the 350 watt amp....will i damage anything????????

  • Answer:

you do not have enough power to blow the amp let alone drive it to 800amps. You are taking 350 watts and splitting it between 2 subs, each sub can only draw 175 watts max. A factory stereo puts out 200 watts. In essence each woofer is getting less than all 4 speakers combined. depending on the shape of the cone it will only be as loud as your current system. I'd recommend getting a 2 channel amp that is designed to power 2 woofers. I have 2 sony 12" Xplodes powered by a 1200W 2 channel Quantum Audio Amp and it isn't half as loud as what you'd find in competitions. To blow the amp you would have to replace the fuse in it with a much larger fuse or pull it apart and arc between the right components. To blow the amp you would need to push a lot more power. Check the impedance on the amp and woofer. This will determine whether it will be run in series or parallel. Long story short you have a weak system. Do some more homework
