What subwoofer should I buy?

I Have No Idea What Kind Of Subwoofer To Buy?

  • I have roughly $250-$300 to spend on my car audio, I know it's not alot but it's all I have to work with. I really know nothing about car audio so what would be a good subwoofer to buy for my 2008 Scion Tc? I'm looking for something loud, but you know I'm just trying to work with what I got... I went to best buy by the way and I saw the Alpine 12 'in Subs which I found really nice, if I can get any opinions. Thanks

    The Type-Rs are pretty good subs though there are better ones out there if you are looking strictly for loudness. I would suggest looking into FI Car Audio (www.ficaraudio.com). They have good subs that will be very loud and good quality as well as in your budget. If you do buy the Type-Rs I would not buy them at BB as you can find much better deals online. You should also put the Type-Rs in a ported enclosure that is built to the specs of the subs for the best performance. The Type-Rs perform better in a ported enclosure, especially if loudness is your main concern. Good Luck!!!

First off, if you have a small budget, stay clear of Best Buy. You can get electronic online for MUCH cheaper and they are the same products. So, $300 huh? OK, here goes: A nice little subwoofer, enclosure and amp combo: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14670_Kicker+07TC104+%2B+Kicker+08ZX300.1.html An amp wiring kit: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7229_e2+E400+by+Scosche.html A converter for splicing off of your factory rear speaker wires http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4993_Scosche+SLC-4.html Splice into your factory wires with something like this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i341_quick-splice-adaptors.html Install it all yourself and you are within budget. I believe you will be happy with this setup for what I am guessing you are looking for, and they are quality products.

Those are definitely nice subs, im not sure if your talking about two or one, but thats beside the point. Don't forget your going to need an amp, and a new head unit, and box for those subs, Those can add up quick. A decent head unit with a pre amp out is about a $100 at best buy, plus you gotta buy the subs which will probably run you between $140-200 depending on a single or double plus you gotta get the amp, bout a $100 bucks (don't buy your amp at best buy, you can get sufficent amps elseware such as amazon.com / which btw they have bundle packs on amazon.com for about $150 bucks, you get subs, the box, and amp.) And then of course your gonna need your amp wiring kit which is another $20 bucks, so if you do everything for cheap your looking at a grand total of $360, but like i said you can get that price down by going to amazon.com and poking around the internet. Some great subwoofer brands are MTX, Pioneer, Alpine, Fusion, Kenwood just to name a few. Good luck. (As a side note, if you have the know how, and the gumption to take the project on yourself DO IT!!! Install places charge you a fortune. You can do it.) GOOD LUCK once again!!
