Electrical Wiring Question on Car Speakers Etc.?

• Where can I find information on how to connect a set of car speakers to another device? For example, I was thinking one of two things either one, I want to somehow use the car speakers as a way to connect to some sort of device that will plug into my ipod, so that the music plays through the speakers. or, I was thinking it might be easier, to get them to connect into a walkmen, and I will use the radio adapter to tune into a station on the walkmen. I'm doing this as a learning project. So if it's complicated, I'd like to learn and do it, but I need to know where I find this information, maybe what books I should be renting from the library?   The easiest and most sensible thing to do is connect the speakers to a regular receiver or home amplifier. They make audio cables that have 1/8" jacks on one end and stereo RCA jacks on the other end which you can use to connect your ipod or whatever device to the receiver/amplifier. Your ipod is not going to put out enough power to provide you with satisfactory results connecting it directly to the speakers.
