How do I change the front speakers in my car?

Help with my car speakers!?!?!?

  • I have a 2005 cavalier. My front speakers blew, so i took it to a place that replaced them with rockford fosgate 4" speakers. now, Rockford fosgate is supposed ot be great with quality and base, well, seriously the day after i got the speakers, they blew, so i took my car back a couple weeks later and they said its because my settings are too high on my cd players. So they replaced them with the warranty and turned my settings down on my cd player as far as theyd go and said that i cannot change them b/c with those speakers you can't have ANY base or Mid base go through them. i was like "wtf", i had hte other speakers b4 for over a year and they never blew. i need some help on what kind of speakers to buy htat i can put bass through and not blow?!?!?! they are the front speakers, and i can only fit 4" speakers in them... Thanks in advance

Hi Geoff, I got my car's audio system from stylintrucks. They have great speakers to choose from. Why not try to visit them and ask for assistance regarding your speakers need. Hope this help. Good luck man and Happy Holidays! :)

you cant run much bass though any 4 " speaker but if i were you you can get in line capacitor to block out sum of the bass to the front speaks with out havin to turn it down on the cd/radio that is if the radio isnt nice enough to have a cross over for just the front where ever bought the speakers from should have the caps sum times called bass blockers

they're actually correct. the fact that you had to have your previous speakers replaced with the Rockfords should show you that. any smaller speaker, 3.5, 4*6, 4, or 5.25 is not a very good size to play bass on. i've been installing over 20 years and know that to be a fact. Crutchfield.com has a product called Bass Blockers (see link), and it does just that. it blocks frequencies below 150 Hz (low bass) from speakers and still allows you to adjust your settings like you normally would without frying your small speakers. Best Buy has a similar product. i used them in my girlfriends car after she BBQed her second set of dash speakers. they also work well if you decide to add subs and use your headunit to power the mids and highs. it sounds much cleaner and keeps it from sounding muddy. if you feel the need to bump like you have subs, maybe you should consider adding some real bass. a sub/amp combo or an amplified sub will get you the bass you want.
