How can i make my sub woofer stronger?

How can I make my sub-woofer work with my CD-player AND radio in my car?

  • I'm by no means a stereo system expert. I'm looking to buy an adapter for my car so I can play music through my ipod. Unfortunately, the adapter works through the FM radio, which my sub does not work with (i get sound, just not the quality the sub provides). Currently, my sub works absolutely fine with the cd player itself, but when I switch over to the radio I just get sound from the basic speakers in my car. Thanks for any help. :)

  • Answer:

How are your subs connected? Sub Pre-Amp out? What Deck (Radio) are you using? Also note FM adapters are very poor quality. I would recommend Upgrading your head-unit (radio), to one that provides a dock connector, or at least an aux input. You'll be much happier with the sound... Edit: the following head-units provide sub preamp outs and ipod dock connectors. Sony CDX-GT640UI (need sync cable) - 159.99 (crutchfield), $122 (new on ebay). http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT640UI/Sony-CDX-GT640UI.html?tp=5684 Kenwood KDC-HD545U - $169.99 (crutchfield), $140 (new on ebay). http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113HD545U/Kenwood-KDC-HD545U.html?tp=5684 If you purchase them from CrutchField.com they will give you everything you need to install the radio in your car. The Kenwood also includes HD radio support (if you live in an area with HD Radio, thats a good buy).
