Need help with wiring speakers to amp?

FACTORY HEAD UNIT [2012 MAZDA 3] My door speakers and subs cut out.. Help?

  • Alright, here's a tough one.. I recently bought a 2012 Mazda 3 (skyactiv) Hatchback.. It has a factory head unit.. I have aftermarket Memphis 15-PR572 (5x7) door speakers being pushed with a high end Kicker 4channel amp. I also have 2 10" quantums being pushed by a BOSS Onyx Series 1600W 2 channel amp. (bridged) The Boss amp is new (bought on 2/21/12) and the Kicker amp is from a friend of mine.. (completely functional) I have 2 Line Our Converters (LOC) which are tapped into my wiring harness. Low pass for subs, and high pass for door speakers. Everything seems to work fine @ the volume level of 20-28. Lows are hitting hard, mids-highs are loud as hell. Once I turn the volume up past 30, I get no sound. Subs, and door speakers cut out. Both amps still have power, and are NOT in protection mode. I'm getting 13.00+ volts to my power wire (8g). I have my remote tapped into my radio fuse to get power when my radio comes on. I've put a capacitor in, used 4G power wires, and yet.. still getting the speakers to cut out. I need help, I believe that it's the factory head unit.. but anyone's opinion on the situation is greatly appreciated.. I'd hate to go out and buy a $900 aftermarker head unit and that not be the problem.

  • Answer:

I have the same exact problem!! Bose door speakers and tweeters all around being pushed by the stock bose amp. I put One 12' sub powered by a hifonics zeuss 600w amp, set to low pass. Sounds great at upto 50% volume, any louder than that the sub cuts off, the door speakers still go up and hit great highs. I was told by someone that it was my stock head unit cutting power to the sub for protection crap. I was also told that a "high-low converter" installed between the speaker outputs and the amp would fix the problem. I am completely stumped also...
