How do I measure how loud a car audio system is?

How loud is my car audio system going to be?

  • I know it's hard to measure this because it's based on opinion, but I just bought an entirely new sound system for my car, I MOSTLY care about the quality of the sound, so I got good equipment, but I'm curious about how loud it will turn out. I have 4 6.5 inch speakers in the doors driven by a 4 channel amp at 220 rms, and Two 12" subs driven at 300 watt rms. I have a lot of room to expand in the future if needed. A separate question that I have that would be nice if answered would be, what happens if you drive more watts to a speaker or sub than recommended?

  • Answer:

Wow 300 Watts rms?? That what my mom has in her car lol. Once you get more then 1500watts rms then your gonna laugh when you remember that you had 300watts and thought it was loud.

It will be as loud as you will probably need it. I have a 350 watt on two subs, and they hit alright. the amp overheats/maxes out though. you can blow the speakers. not saying you will, but you can.

I don't think it would sound that loud lol why didn't you just get like two 12' kickers and a 3000 watt planet audio amp. That s h i t would bang! For like 600 bucks.. Lol I had that same set up with some more extras and my gas tank would vibrate :p and the exhaust would also. I had to get it welded hahaha. Then they stole it... Lol
