What cables to get for car sub/amp?

  • Ok, so it's for a 2005 scion tc. I'm have a 12 in sony xplod sub and a 1000w sony xplod amp. the amp says its 2/1 channel power. i have the rca connectors, and the remote wire. I assume all i need now is the red and black( power and ground) cable. I guess regular house speaker wires wont work so i need to get ones that come 4 gauge or 8 gauge or something. I dont know what that is or whats the difference. Which should i get and if you can educate me on what the difference is ill greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    The smaller the gauge the bigger the wire. You need to check your amp to see if it will take a 4 guage wire.

everything is correct except there's no need to go that big on speaker wire. 12 gauge speaker wire is all that you need.

8 gauge should be plenty thick. You are not running enough power to require 4 gauge.
