What happends if i have a 2 channel amp and i only use 1 channel out of the 2?

  • i have a 1600w amp powering to 12 kicker cvrs in the kicker box with one out put and i only need to use one out put from the amp if i use 1 out put well this damage my amp? i also noticed that my subes are louder and cleaner when i use 1 channel whats up with that?

  • Answer:

If I read your question correctly, you are not bridging the amp. If the amp is not being bridged, you can blow the other channel out. Its best to use both by (1) separating the speakers or (2) bridging the amp if the amp specifications state that its capable. Bridging the amp is taking 1 output to R- and output 2 to L+ or vice versa. Basically its taking the positive of one channel and the negative of the other channel and using both as one.
