Car audio question on a amp?

Car audio amp question...?

  • A quick question about the amp(crunch powerzone p1500) for my subs, I got this amp secondhand and did not get the remote control for it. I don't think it's putting out anywhere near the power that it should be. Now, do i need to fix this by getting hold of a remote and tweaking from there, or do the controls onboard the amp override the remotes functionality when it is disconnected?

  • Answer:

Crunch amps are notorious for under powering their amplifiers. If it is rated @ 1500 watts, providing your subs are wired to 1 ohm, you will be lucky to see ~ 600 watts RMS on a typical electrical system. Regarding your question about the remote: The remote is for convenience, it has no bearing on your amplifier's performance if you set the gain on the amp.

u dont need the remote. what ever is set up on the amp is all its gonna get. the remote is just a cut off or wen u want less bass w/o goin back to the amp to turn the gain down. the amp only puts out about 550watts truly but it cud be goin out. power mosfets goin out will cause a weak output. cud just be a bad inline fuse on the power wire or a bad ground.

Those are pretty standard remote controllers, you get those at car stereo shops. Its the rj45 right..
