How to hook up a subwoofer?

I need to know how to hook up a subwoofer. All I have is the stock parts. I have the wire that connects the battery and the amp and the subwoofer. What type of amp should I get? When I get the amp how do I connect the amp and the subwoofer? Thanks

You need to know the rms power rating, and the number of voice coils. Also you need to know what ohm the voice coils are. This WAY you can figure out what your wiring options are and how much power you will need in rms. Ignore all peak power specs this is not actual wattage.
