How do I install a subwoofer into a car?

How to install my car subwoofer.?

  • I have a 1000w amp 3 pioneer Type R 10" subs in a box box all wired up but needs to be bridged that I want to hook up in a 2008 impala. I have no experience at all in car audio but I want to do it myself. So far I know I need a rca converter because I have a stock radio and I need a 4 gauge wiring kit. I need to know the rest of the materials I need and how to install it.

  • Answer:

Be careful how you wire it up incorrect resistance will cook your amp. check the spec's and the way your subs are wired. this should help. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#ser Not shure of your amp, but if wired in parallel especially bridged 4+4+4=1.3 OHM could cook amp 4+4+4= 12 OHM not much output Make shure to check what it can handle for min. impedance (resistance) calculators should get you on a roll. +battery---(fuse)---+amp -Anywhere you can get a good ground------(- amp Rem on/amp --------------blue wire on aftermarket radios (But i think it is white on your factory radio) RCA wires go on opposite side of car than power line (driver /passenger) or may cause buzz/humm . good luck

just go to crutchfield.com. but i have heard of alpine type R's, not Pioneer type R's.

the amp: red cable(V) goes to battery, black(ground) find some good ground, usually blue(remote) goes to stereo wire labled remote

i hope you mean alpine type r's
