What amp would you recomend for this subwoofer?

Subwoofer-Amp Question?

  • Does this sound like it will match up correctly. And will I be able to heard quite a ways away. (AMP) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236TC8001/MTX-TC8001.html?tp=115 (SUB) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2067DCVR12/Kicker-07DCVR122.html?search=CVR122 or should I buy this amp. I noticed that it's been discontinued, so I'm not really sure if I would recieve any sort of repair, etc. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6595_Kicker+ZX750.1.html Also on the sub I see only one set of speaker outputs that are rated at 2 ohms. The mono amp has two speaker connections (Speaker 1 And Speaker 2), so how would I hook this up? Would I just connect the negative lead from the sub to the amps - input on speaker 1 and the positive lead coming from the sub to the amps + input on speaker 2. (This is a photo of the amp speaker connections) http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Photos/Default.aspx?i=236TC8001&g=120 One more question. Do you guys think I will be fine running the sub amp and another 80 watt x 4 channel amp (Profile AP1040) off of 8 gauge wire? I have a 4 gauge coming from the battery that connects to a dist block and splits off into two 8 gauge wires. I will also replace the 100 amp ANL fuse with a 200 AMP ANL Fuse (Located on power wire). I'm also sorta afraid to run my amp at 2 ohms.

  • Answer:

Ok first off that amp will only power one of those subs. the pair total 800rms so you need to give it 800 rms. so find a new amp with that much power. the 8 awg wire is fine for the amp you choose but if you go up to the 800rms you should probably go up to 4 awg but then again my friend runs 8 awg to his 900 rms system and i can't sit in that car with the music on for fear of deafness. and 200 amps for the fuse is way overkill the 100 is fine. i run a 60 amp fuse for my 600 rms system with no trouble at all. and crutchfield has the wiring diagrams you need right here http://www.crutchfield.com/S-BFVFxIobX1q/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
