Bought a new head unit?

Help I have 2 kenwood subs with a 1000 watt kenwood amp, and head unit. I just bought another kenwood to hook?

  • help I have 2 kenwood subs with a 1000 watt kenwood amp, and head unit. I just bought another kenwood to hook up. would it be louder 2 buy1 more sub, or just hook the two amps to the 2 subs, which will be louder.

  • Answer:

You lost me a little bit. Did you get a new amp of new sub? Hooking up 2 amps would be a 3 db increase giving it twice the audible loudness. When you double cone area, (from 1 12 to 2 12s or 2 12s to 4 12s) there is a 3 db increase even with the same amount of power. It would be louder to hook up another amp if its doubling the power. With the amp you would increase 3 dbs with one more sub (making it 3?) it would make it approx. 1.5 dbs louder. Double the power..

its common sense that 3 will be louder than 2...thats if the subs are properly powered...if the subs are 500 watts and ur amp is 1000 watts then there's no need for a second amp....but if each sub is 1000 watts then a second amp will help you increase the volume of your system....if you get 3 subs and 2 amps ur gonna have to connect 2 subs to1 amp...its all about having the proper power....
