Whats the best amp for my subs?

For a car system. whats the best amp(size and brand) and subs(size and brand) will get the ground shaking?

  • Wanted to know what's the best out there. And what it takes to rock the cars around mine

  • Answer:

I have always gone with MTX brand everything. Their amps are rated RMS like fellow big names Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, etc. As far as size I would get at least an 800 watt RMS and get a pair of 12"s RMS 400 apiece. You will one day get tired of the loud music not to mention you are going to grow hard of hearing. Just ask me! Take it easy on how loud it is.

the 3 answerd earlyer all of them are ok..spl blows up to much, mtx is ok if u jst starting out with a car system, but most of all they both are ok..but u can never go wrong with sum kickers...if ya wont sum good sounding subwoofers get sum 10s, they wont deffien you.u wont sumting that will shake the street get u sum 12s..or if u wont sumthing that is gonna shake pictures and **** in other peopls home get sum 15s,,i dont mess with 18s jst aint got no were to put them pluse they cost to much..also make sure u check out the wattage on the subs.get the right amount of watts.say if ur subs are a 1000watts a pice, then u would need a 2000watt amp.cause the rms out put on the amp would be a 1000 watts..these is jst a little help,ur money use it on wat u wont..

There are a lot of good amp and sub manufacturers out there. And most of them have equipment that ranges from pretty mild to teeth rattling SPL. The one thing you can count on is the good stuff isn't cheap. If you have no system and haven't been around very many loud ones then a good pair of 12's and a 500-1000w rms amp should sound pretty impressive. If you want to be one of those people that think they're cool (they're not) because those around them can hear the boom 10 sec before they see the car it will take a lot more than that. For starters - a high output alternator is a must - something in the 200A neighborhood. Depending on what car you drive that can range from $200-300 for an aftermarket bolt on alt or a complete custom job which in some cases can cost more than your amp(s) and sub(s). A couple 12" or 15" spl subs and a coulple thousand watts (rms - none of that Pyle, Power Acoustik peak/max crap) and preferably professionally designed and built ported enclosure. That type of set up would be sure to get you a few sound ordinance violations. Off the top of my head I'd recommend the audioque aq2200d and a pair of dual 1 ohm audioque hdc3's. The 12's - set up right will rattle things in your house while your car's in the drive way. The 15's would probably rattle things in your neighbors house. It's important to understand that it's not all about having good gear and a lot of power. Having a good enclosure plays a big role in SPL. With a set up like that you need to understand the importance of good wiring as well. You need QUALITY 1/0 power and ground wiring. Also the high output alt will require upgrading the "big 3" charging wires to 1/0. The big 3 is the alternator output to batt (+), batt (-) to chassis ground, and engine block to chassis ground.

I have 2 10" Audiobahn Flame q's, there rated at 900 rms each, my amp at the moment dosn't do them justice but I'm getting the new Alpine MRX-M100 amp. Mono amp rated at 1000 rms at 2 ohms. should work quite well

My all time favorite is Alpine Type-R 12''s. If you have two of them with a powerful amp it will be plenty loud enough I promise because it sort of makes your inner ear itch a bit all the way up lol

kuk

Kicker solo x 15'' one can do anything even make your peers here u from miles
