What do you do in a Sweet 16?

• Well im 14 and im going to turn 15 on September. I really wanted a quincenera but my parents say its to late to plan one and i could probably get a Sweet 16. Whats the difference? I mean what do you do in a Sweet 16, do you do everything they do in a quincenera? I have never gone to a sweet sixteen believe it or not just to quinceneras. So whats the difference in what they do.   There's not a difference between Sweet 16 and Quincenera. Just different cultures. let me explain. In Hispanic countries it's a big deal when the girl turns 15 and not 16 because at 15 is when the little girl becomes a young lady. She's not an adult but she's not a kid either. A teenage girl who will begin experiencing changes in her life and body. She will demand to be taken more seriously and not treated like a kid, she will want to have a boyfriend, first kiss and other things. In the United States people celebrate Sweet 16 instead because that's the legal age to drive in that country. Girls at that age wanna get their driving license and want their parents to give them a car as a present on their 16th birthday. That's the only reason i can think of why in the U.S they celebrate Sweet 16.
