Why am I being taxed on internet sales?

I live in Illinois and previously had never been charged tax on any kind of internet purchase. This weekend I attempted to make a purchase and it charged a tax. What I'm wondering is if something changed recently to affect this? It was multiple websites.
Answer:

It the seller has a nexus in IL, they are required to collect and render IL state sales taxes. You must have previously been doing business with a site that didn't have a nexus in IL.

it depends on the company you were ordering from some will include the sales tax of the state you are in, some don't you got one who does

No, it depends where the seller is. If you buy from a seller located in your state or with a facility in your state, you pay tax. Otherwise you don't pay sales tax to the seller, although in most cases legally you're required to pay a "use tax" to your state yourself even though this is often ignored.
