Can I amend past tax returns from a 1040-EZ to a 1040-A to claim additional credits?

I have always filed the 1040-EZ tax form because, well, it's easy. Using an online tax form I realized with the 1040-A form I could have been claim the 401(k) saver's credit all along. Can I amend my 1040-EZ taxes from previous years to the 1040-A to claim this credit?

Yes. You can go back and amend 2006, 2007 and 2008 and claim the credit if you qualify.
To amend any return that has been previously filed, you are required to use for 1040X.
