Am I eligible for Unemployment in New York?

Unemployment Wages In New Jersey higher than wages in New York?

  • I just came back from a deployment in December. I am currently going to school full time and collecting unemployment. So, being that I made a good amount of money overseas, I get maximum wages from the state of New York. My fellow soldier who lives in New Jersey is making maximum wages for the state of New Jersey, and thats over two hundred dollars than what I am making living in New York. Do people really get more money from unemployment living in the state of New Jersey than New York? Does anyone know why this is?

  • Answer:

Every state has their own maximum unemployment benefit. The NJ max is $598 per week vs $405 in NY. A few states are even higher -- RI is $689 and MA is $653. FL is one of the worst at a paltry $275 per week.
