Are Chinchillas illegal in Alaska?

Michigan/Alaska Part Time Resident?

  • At the beginning of the year, I was a Michigan resident (going to school there, driver's license there, etc). August 1st I left to move to Alaska. I have lived in Alaska since then. However, I did not change my Michigan driver's license until after 2009 was over (long story), so I still had a MI driver's license while living in Alaska. When I look online, it tells me that those two things are what determine residency, and they conflict. From August to the end of December, I lived in Alaska with a Michigan driver's license. Now, Alaska does not have individual income tax, so I do not need to file here - but am I correct in filing in Michigan as a part-time resident? I have been working full time in Alaska.

  • Answer:

where did you work? your tax home is where you work and since you did in fact move to Alaska, and subsequently worked there, that would be your tax home part of being a resident of the state does involve changing banks, registering to vote, changing license registration etc, but if you worked in Alaska and this is not a temporary assignment, that is your tax home Mich is non resident(part time) etc. yes
