Is being an accountant harder than being a bookkeeper?

Difference between Accountant? Bookkeeper? Accounting clerk?

  • Answer:

an accounting clerk probably has a prescribed procedure for doing probably one particular job, might be inputing invoices, checks, receipts etc but quite limited a bookkeeper can probably do all kinds of entries in journals, cash receipts, expenses etc, and depends on skill and knowledge go to a trial balance an accountant does all of the above and more so, and depending on skill and experience as well as knowledge do a complete thoro accounting of the entire month, and probably thru end of year with adjusting entries that are re'qd in some states you are not able to label yourself an accountant without having passed the CPA Exam I have enough education, experience etc that I regularly do a complete accounting of my clients for the entire year and prepare statements for them but I am still only allowed to label myself as a bookkeeper because in my state there are no longer 'public accountants' without having passed the CPA exam
