  • I recently in 2009 in january of tax time brought in 08 W2 to file kuz i failed to bring them in that one year because they arrived late but i did them and my h&r block helper said she will call me when she was done filing my 08 W2 she called like a month later around march 2009 and said it would be $50 for filing and that i owed the state and bla blah and i kept forgetting to pay that $50 and they reminded me once with a letter that all my info would be moved to a other h&r block from the one i was at so its already been well 2yearz most likely what i wanna know why they havent reminded me again and im filing this year would IRS remove what i had to pay in my W2 from 08? Or whats gonna happen?? I need help...

  • Answer:

You still owe Block the $50 fee. They might or might not have just written it off by now. If you owe the IRS back taxes, yes they'll take it out of your refund, plus interest.

Based on what you wrote it sounds like H&R Block never filed your return because you never paid for it. They moved your amended return and it's just sitting in a box somewhere. You never filed that 2008 W-2 that arrived late. What could happen is that the IRS may send you a friendly notice about the W-2 you never filed, along with a proposed bill for taxes owed. I would recommend calling to find out about that 2008 amended federal return-- do you recall if you had a refund or balance due?
