Irs wrong direct deposit information?

Is it true you can recieve a direct deposit refund in 10 days with the irs free file program?

  • On the IRS web site it tells you the bennefits of free file...one being that you can get your return in as little as 10 days using direct deposit. when I called the IRS reguarding another issue, the woman told me that they do not guarentee anything sooner than 3 weeks....but it clearly shows information about the 10 days right on the IRS site.... OK, so if I can get a refund in 10 days with direct deposit...can someone out there please share their experiences with me so I know how long to wait for my refund.

  • Answer:

Processing time of an electronically filed tax return can take up to three weeks. The return must be received and accepted by the IRS before Thursday noon to get your refund in 10 days or less. If it is accepted after noon on Thursday, you get pushed to the next week.

If you have your refund direct deposited, yes. It might be a few days longer depending on when in the week you file. A check mailed to you takes about another 10 days.
