Why do some people hate valentines day?

  • don't get me wrong I'm not all about the cheesey flowers and having everything pink and gorging myself in chocolate but I enjoy valentines day with my boyfriend as an extra cuddleing day (cuz he gets in a really cute mood) and also this year I'm excited because my bf surprised me with tickets to a concert on valentines day so I'm pretty happy. but then everyone on Facebook always has to bring the mood down for every event or holiday because if they don't like something then they bash anyone who does and it's like really?? why?? .... I don't agree with the people who think valentines day is all about saying I love you because if you have to wait for a special day to say I love you then your relationship is a total fail but my bf and I arent like that so what's so bad about wanting to spend time with ur loved one on valentines day? even when I wasn't in a relationship on a valentines day I still enjoyed how excited my friends got and stuff it's just supposed to be a fun day !!

    I have a boyfriend, but I hate valentines day. In matter of fact I don't want to hangout with him today. To me valentines day is just another day. We should always tell our boyfriends/girlfriends how much they mean to us and that he love them why wait once a year? Makes no since to me, but then again I'm one of those girls who don't care about gifts.

Well, I'm not sure about everyone else, but here's why I hate it. Valentines day used to be a day to observe the people you love in your life and for people to profess their love. You should always be appreciative of special people in your life, but valentines day was a sort of reminder. People today have turned valentines day into a commercialized holiday to make money. another possible reason is that people are single, and seeing happy couples make them jealous.

Okay. I'm just going to be brutally honest with my answer here, because I think I'll be speaking for millions of people when I say this. I hate valentine's day, and have hated it pretty much every time it rears it's ugly head in my life. Why? Because in my life, not ONE of my relationships has ever really come up to anything. Only one or two of my relationships, actually lasted a week, let alone a few days for most of them! And why? Because yes, I am a social outcast. I understand this. But when I muster up the courage to ask someone out, someone else comes and ruins it and steals her. And there I am back where I started. And so every year on valentine's day, I walk the halls of my school HATING THE VERY IDEA that hearts are hung on the walls and from the ceilings, THAT THE GUYS are bringing flowers, THAT THE GIRLS are swooning and sighing when in a few days IF NOT THE VERY EVENING, that their hearts will be broken. And so I close my eyes and wish it was wednesday. Because sure. I have nobody to say "Happy valentine's day, sweetheart" to. No. It's not that. It's the fact if I do, "Oh, sorry... I already have a boyfriend. Heh. We're going out for a romantic dinner tonight! I can't wait!" And on my face I show nothing but a slight discomfort but deep down, I am hating the very thing that has happened with every fiber of my being. So now you know, why I hate valentine's day.

I don't like valentines day because for me its everyday. That is how life should be, I mean, I also don't like Christmas or Thanksgiving either for the same reason. Even when I am single it makes things easier that way just showing love and care all the time.
