Is being a flight attendant a good occupation?

Anybody works as a flight attendant in the US? ?

  • Anybody works as a flight attendant in the US? So, I am an university student in different country, and after graduating, I want to work as a flight attendant in the states. To be a Flight attendant there, should I go to the school for it? Or you can get the job easily without the knowledge? I am not an American anyway. And I want to know more about the job too. Their job, how you think of the job, wage, lives.. and anything. If you know good websites for knowing about the job or getting the job, please let me know as well. Help me to decide my way please.. Thank you :)

  • Answer:

You cannot work on domestic flights (within USA) as flight attendant - Because you are not an American citizen or permanent resident - You can apply to be F/A for a USA air carrier, but be based overseas - That is example, in Paris, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, São Paulo - Fly to USA, spend the night, then fly back to your base next day - They could hire you because you speak languages used in your country - Training is done in USA, and takes a few weeks - There are foreign based F/A with American, Delta, Continental, United - They have different contract than USA F/A - different salaries and benefits - To apply, go to the nearest airport where USA airlines operate - Request an employment application form from the station manager - Send your complete C.V. with a picture and copy of your school diplomas - You should also have a current passport (or apply for one) - It may take months (?) before they hire flight attendants at that foreign base - http://pprune.org - look for cabin crew wannabees forum - It is a free forum, but you must register to print questions - .

To work in the US for a US carrier you must be eligible to work in the US and your passport must allow multiple exits and entries from the US. Do not waste your time taking any outside training; any airline that hires you will train you. http://www.flightattendantcareer.com is a very good website to answer you questions.

Sorry, but you would need to obtain American citizenship or status as a resident-alien to work for an airline based in the USA. No exceptions
