What is wrong with Firefox/my computer?
-
This has never really happened before, but all day today, ten or so minutes after I open Firefox, the CPU usage goes up straight to 100%, ergo everything starts lagging up the a**. Nothing else is open, and I have to constantly press start or control alt delete just to get pages to finish loading. I'm not sure if this is an ISP thing, or if there's some stupid Trojan on my laptop or whatever. AVG did a scan earlier and found nothing, guess I should take a closer look. http://i560.photobucket.com/albums/ss45/dark-tails-prowerfox/control.jpg Any clue what this might be?

Have you tried a Spyware/Adware program? Try Adaware at adaware.com. Also, maybe download google Chrone browser and see if it is still happening with a different browser. Something else to try is to go to Trandmicro.com and run the House Call virus checker in the browser to see if it finds anything. If none of this works, try a system restore to a time before your system started acting up and see if it returns to normal working order.
Try running a Malwarebytes scan. Let it remove everything it finds. So make sure you click remove selected after scan is finished. Also after you download the free version it's important to click the update tab and let Malwarebytes update before scanning with it. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Also run Firefox in Safe Mode, not to be confused with Windows safe mode Firefox has it's own. This will indicate if an add / on is causing the issue. Google firefox safemode....You will still need to trouble shoot what add/ on is of issue.
Try to disable all the Add-ons that you have installed in your browser (using Tools-> Add-on), and test the browser, if it starts ok, then enable them one by one until you find the one that is causing the high CPU consumption. In my case it was the McAfee Site Advisor plug-in.
