How do you delete cookies on Mozilla Firefox?

Why won't Firefox delete my cookies and history anymore?

  • When I go to browser options and privacy, I made it so Firefox will never remember history. When I try to make it custom options, it won't let me mess with the "delete cookies after closing Firefox" option and "Delete history" after closing Firefox option. They are all greyed out. Why is this? Right now I have the privacy options set on the default never remember history, but that option seems to make Firefox remember cookies. After I close my browser and turn it back on, I'm still signed in on Yahoo Answers and stuff.

  • Answer:

For more 'granularity' try this: FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy> top drop menu set to "Firefox will use custom settings..."> Check 'Accept Cookies from sites' ►Un-Check 'Accept 3rd Party cookies'. Then, in the check 'Clear History'> Settings button> [examine what all you want kept or cleared with a check]> OK/close out. For maximum privacy, have you looked at "In Private browsing"? Firefox can be set to "Always open in Private browsing", which might save you a lot of config. issues and doubts. Note that 'log in's" are controlled with cookies, not history.
