Can my computer be tracked?

Can a new computer stolen from a store be tracked/traced?

  • Dont worry im not stealing computers... say i buy a computer (that i didnt know was stolen) off ebay or something. can it be traced when i use the internet? will the store or cops contact me or trace it or anything?

    If they choose to go ahead and track it they probably can. All computers have a serial number so with the right people it shouldn't be too hard. If the cops do contact you, you should tell them exactly who you bought it from if they accuse you of stealing said computer.

But you don't have anything to worry about if you did not steal it and you did not know that it was stolen merchandise when you bought it.
