What is disk duplexing?

How do I get permission to format a disk?

  • So my computer got a virus, a bad one. My whole local disk is corrupt and now I can't see any of the files and now somehow the disk has only a few kilabytes of space left on it. I have my windows 7 disk and I thought, no problem, I'll flash it with the disk. I installed windows seven on the backup disk by accident now I have both versions of windows (XP on my local, 7 on my backup, D:, disk) I then tried to install it again on the local disk using the install new version rather than upgrade and it said I don't have enough available space. What I want to do is just format my local disk so I can install windows 7 on it and the problem would be solved but when I try to format the local disk it says it can't format an active partition, how do I make it so it will format the disk anyways? I have an operating system on my backup disk so why can't I format the local disk?

During Windows setup (after booting from CD/DVD), delete the partition you wish to format, then create a new partition in its place.
