Proxy web servers and internet?

Hi. I know how to use proxy web server when I'm accessing the internet through mozilla for example. But I have one particular program that accesses the internet (automatically upon start-up). Can I get it to use a proxy to access it. Is this even possible ? Can I get all programs that use the internet to access it through a proxy ? thanks.
