How do I delete an account?

How do I create limited account /delete an Administrator account my XP PC?

  • I wanted to create some accounts besides Guest Account. When I created one as a limited account it is denied and it replaced my existing Administrator account, only then I can create limited accounts. My existing account is missing and I cannot use anything I have on my existing administrator account. I wanted to delete that new administrator account and use my existing Adm. account but I cannot delete it. Can anyone help me how to delete the new Adm. account that replaced my default and existing Adm. account so that I can use everything I have in there. I even still want to create some accounts on the existing Adm. account, please. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Answer:

click start->settings->control panel ->users (create new account). there will be an option to make it limited. U cant delete the administrator account, xp needs one as a primary. U can always pw protect this one. If u dont have the password of an administrator account you cant delete it! **to access your previous accounts data: be logged in as admin (any), and simply browse c:\documents and settings - there will be a folder for each user. U can locate your old data there.. be careful deleting admin accounts if u are confused - always have a backup or move the important stuff out of documents and settings - like c:\mybackup or something, that way ull have a copy at the very least. windows wont delete data outside of documents and settings when deleting accounts.
