How to remove some extra drives from my computer?

Computer BSOD Problem Urgent!!?

  • Basically, my computer got BSOD. Its happened before on other computers, but this is how this one happened. I was running a scan with Avira, however Avira kept detecting other viruses trying to access win32 outside form the scan. I pressed remove, but after removing Avira turned off the computer. I received BSOD when turning it on. I restarted and opened up my Booting Options (not sure exactly what it was). I have various forms of Linux on CDs. If I boot through Linux and find the source of the problem can I delete it, or will booting linux fail too? I believe it is probably an issue in win32 so booting a different operating system should work but I cant be sure. This is all that was presented on the error screen. A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If the screen appears again follow these steps: Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers.Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Un CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and restart your computer. Technical information: ***STOP: 0x0000007b (0xF7b42524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x000000000) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks (PS. I have tried booting through the Windows CD. When I choose to boot through the CD it fails and then boots through the HDD again. I can't even choose which OS to boot off the HDD because I cant use the arrows. It doesnt give me any time to move, so I am hoping that booting off Linux may work.)

  • Answer:

Linux boot CDs have a live file system on them- they will run independent of the OS on the computer. Try booting off a *nix CD and then run something like Clam AV (free and open source).
