How do I delete system32 folder?

Rootkit in my system32 folder... how do I delete it?

  • Malwarebytes isn't finding it and my Hitman Pro has expired so it won't delete it... the file is called "mqtgll32.dll" so it is being disguised as a Windows file and it is also hidden in the folder. It was also created yesterday. Anyway, I can't delete it because it is "write protected," or that what the box that pops up says when I try to delete the file. How can I delete it? Thanks!

  • Answer:

You will not delete a rootkit in safe mode or with unlocker. The people who gave those answers are deluded. Download a linux disc and combofix. Burn the iso image to cd, and boot from it.This will allow you to delete ANY file, so be careful what you delete. Reboot and run combofix Rootkits always live in system32/drivers and have a sys extension, so, mqtgll32.dll, is not the rootkit http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

Use this http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ Mark the file and delete on restart

Here is what you need to do: 1.Restart your computer in safe mode with networking -to start in safe mode click F8 repeatedly while your computer is booting. 2.Go to www.cnet.com -click on the tab (under the cnet search bar) that says windows 3.Download all of three of the following -Avast Anti VIrus (make sure you uninstall NORTON or WHATEVER YOU CURRENTLY HAVE) the guy below me says click here but how are you supposed to go on the internet when you INFECTED LOL WOW. -Super Anti Spyware -Malwarebytes Anti Malware 4.Update everything... 5.Now run a complete scan while in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING 6.The trojans will be found after all the scans are complete so RELAX 7.Repeat steps 4,5, and 6 weekly to prevent future breakouts... NOTE: DONT FORGET TO UPDATE EVERYTHING DAILY PLEASE!!!
