Does someone know how to download movies from the Comcast DVR to my computer?

Anyone who REALLY knows how to get rid of a computer virus?

  • I dont do much on my pc but watch movies on fancast, email, facebook browse, listen to live radio, etc... I dont really download anything or handle any business on it, just leisure. Couple of things here...I went a short time w/o anti-virus and therefore got seriously infected so I had some "computer guy" come out that I found in the phone book. Really nice guy but it took him like 3 visits and $200 to clean out my computer. He installed the AVG free version of anti-virus, a defgramenter, spywear blaster, spybot and malwear bytes. I dont always run these programs but the anti-virus automatically runs every night. I run the other programs once about ever 2 weeks or so. Well a few months later and my computer is already buggin out. I am getting pop up messages about my computer being infected...I know it is but I also know better than to click on the box !! also my cd rom isnt working ever since he "fixed" my pc. Additionally, my virtual memory is low. I usually put on live radio using the windows player for my baby every night and now the music keeps cutting out and only plays for like 2 seconds every few minutes. I know its a lot of problems but I cant afford another $200 to have someone come out. I want to know if there is any specific programs I can buy to completely remove all of the viruses and keep them from comming back? I dont understand if I have all of this protection how am I getting viruses?? Also, what to I need to buy to get more memory? how to I fix my cd drive so it will play again? it wont even spin the cleaning disk!! aslo, what do i need to do to maintain my computer on a regular basis? and lastly, is it harmful for my computer to go on facebook?? any help or suggestions would be most appriciated. thx oh yeah and for some reason I keep getting an internet explorer message that the page cannot be displayed when I click on, say for instance, a tab on craigslist??

Hello, I suggest the free program Malwarebytes an excellent malware/Trojan remover; http://www.malwarebytes.org/index.php "Malwarebytes is a site dedicated to fighting malware. Malwarebytes has developed a variety of tools that can identify and remove malicious software from your computer. When your computer becomes infected, Malwarebytes can provide the needed assistance to remove the infection and restore the machine back to optimum performance."

to simply remove viruses and help protect you from them, AVG free or Avast antivirus are good programs that are free to download, just google them. These programs will scan for and identify any viruses, and if possible, remove them for you. As for getting viruses, download McAfee site advisor to help identifty sketchy sites that may try and give you a virus. In general, only visit known, trusted sites and don't click on ad links or weird buttons. However, no program is 100% perfect, but they'll be your best bet to stay safe and fix any problems that arise. One more good option for staying safe is to make sure all the programs you run are up to date. Old versions tend to have more vulnerabilities to viruses. If you're running low on memory, you might want to run less programs at a time. But if it is always low, go out and buy some more memory, like 1 gigabyte of RAM (Random Access Memory). Any major retailer like Best Buy or Walmart will carry this, and you might want to check out a more computer savvy store like Best Buy if you need help installing it. As for your cd drive, the tech guy probably deleted a "driver" which your computer uses to be able to work with the cd reader. Without it, the cd rom is a useless piece of hardware. You can google for cd drive driver to download what you lost, just make sure its for the right model or type that you are using, otherwise, it might just be broken, and you'll have to buy an external cd drive. good luck

It isn't bad to use facebook. Run in Safe Mode.

First of all you Malwarebytes in free mode can only be updated manually, so open it and update. You need more virtual memory so open my computer, right click on drive C, and open properties to see how full it may be as you may have to manually delete large files like movies or pics to gain room. Open disc cleanup and run. Say yes to delete files, while you are still in my computer look to see if your CD drive (drive D) appears below Drive C. Open Malwarebytes Anti-malware and run a FULL scan. View report at end of uninterrupted scan and delete all objects. Reboot, update your AVG (I prefer Avast and only charge $75 for a cleanup), and run AVG full scan. If CD drive is missing go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 and follow directions.

It sounds like you may have a thing called smithfraud. If so, the best solution, which is free, is to download and run SmtihFraudFix. You can download it form this site. http://www.precisesecurity.com/tools-resources/adware-tools/smitfraudfix/ Print out, read and follow the instructions. Restart the computer in safe mode after it is done and run malwarebytes, the complete scan. That should resolve the problem. Email me if you have any questions. The social networking sites and music download sites are some of the worst for trojans, viruses and spyware. You should run a better software than AVG Free. It works ok but does not cover everything.
